Has the humour advanced from what we have seen in AYBS?
Yes, it's a lot more rude and there is swearing compared to the light hearted humour in Are You Being Served. It's no longer just innuendos and is now just sexual jokes. Are You Being Served jokes were aimed at adults by Misfits was very much aimed at teenagers. The jokes are aimed at more groups of people in Misfits than in AYBS such as ethnic groups and the disabled. The jokes in Misfits are a lot more offensive than in AYBS. There is still a generational gap between the teenagers and the probation officer.
Are jokes still being aimed at the same group of people?
Jokes are still being made between genders and the young and old. The probation worker didn't find any of the teenagers funny, which highlights the generation gap. The whole show is aimed at teenagers. The show may be slightly aimed towards men more than women, there are more sexual jokes made by Nathan about girls.

An Education
1) How is Jenny typical of a British teenager?
Jenny is very typical in some ways to a modern day teenager. This is shown when she bunks lessons to go and have a smoke with her friends. Also she drinks alcohol before the legal age, which most teens do now. Also she has her independents because her parents let her go to Paris and to oxford with David, it also shows the parents have less control. Most of the teens today loose their virginity at an early age and before marriage, also this shows her naivete by not knowing David before she jumped straight in to marriage. This is not typical of 1960's teenagers as they usually wait for marriage and it is frowned upon if they do not. Jenny is also typical of a 1960's teenager as well by being very in to her studies. She aspiers to go to oxford university and her parents are pushing her to do her best. Teenagers are expected to try and find someone to marry at early ages and she found someone very soon, which her parents had to aprove of.

How is Jenny a typical British teenager?
Jenny can be seen as a typical teenager as she rebels against teachers and believed she knew best and what she was doing. She was smoking and drinking which shows she is following the trends of her friends. The way it was portrayed was Jenny was the leader of her friends which she influenced them to follow her example of smoking and drinking too.\
During the film, we get the sense she is naive as she believed that marrying David would complete and perfect her life. also the way she acted when she received her gift of a Latin Dictionary, she reacted like a typical teenager of being unenthusiastic.
What are the similarities and comparisons to Alfie of the representation of Britishness?
