Chris Anderson theory..

Find an example of a film that is a big hit and compare it to a niche film.

We chose "Gran Torino" as our big film as the release generated $260 million worldwide with its widely anticipated release it topped the box office charts in 2008 alongside another huge release "Marley and Me" The film cost the production team $33 million gathering a tidy profit due to the generally low production costs. "Gran Torino" achieved a healthy $59,877,235 in dvd sales with a total of 4,024,401 being sold to date. Also creating $29 million in the first weekend of release in the cinemas from ticket sales revenue.
Fan activity is minimum as far as i'm aware with low popularity fan sites.

The niche film we chose was The Haunting in Connecticut.
production cost 40 million.
revenue $77 million.
Dvd sales 1.5 million units sold.
Fan Activity non-existent bad reviews scoring 3/10
