A media lecturer in America.
Developed the Participatory Culture theory.
Notes from 10 minute interview:
He said that there is a rapid social and cultural change, which allows technology to develop.
He also mentions collective intelligence, by saying that in a society where knowledge is more accessible than ever, nobody knows everything, but everybody knows something. So sites like Wikipedia and IMDB where people from around the world share their knowledge with one another, they no longer become a product but a process.
He says that everyone is a consumer and a producer of media. In the past people struggled to communicate therefore from social networks they now find it more accessible. An example of this is professors and lecturers who have been known to answer questions people posted on twitter while talking to a group of people, or even talking about video games while playing them.
Another point he makes is about how media convergence is more cultural process than technological process.
He says that media is everywhere and for the younger generation it is second nature for them.
