Tasks for Today's lesson

Wednesday the 23rd of March.

Media in the Online Age

For the Online Age exam question you need to refer to two forms of Media and cover past and present. The task below will help you to build a case study based on an older film and a case study based on a more current television show.

Marketing and the Internet.

1.      Look at the official website for Little Miss Sunshine and answer the following:

What types of information can we learn about the film and actors from this website?

Is the website interactive for the consumer and in what ways?

Which marketing strategies are evident on this website?

Why do you think these methods are being used for this film?

The above case study is from 2006, now look at a more recent case study to investigate how use of the internet in marketing has advanced:

2.      Use Misfits as your recent case Study. Think about how the website differs.

What types of information can we learn about the show, characters and actors?

How many links are there with other forms of social media e.g. Facebook?

Is the website interactive in any other ways?

Is the website easy to use and accessible for all?

Research into wider marketing strategies on the web as well as the website; is a there a buzz being created for the show?

If you finish the work above begin planning your response to one of the following questions, these will be the questions for the mock on Friday.

  1. What difference has the internet made to media production and consumption? Refer to at least two media in your answer.
  2. How important to change in the media is the idea of convergence? Refer to at least two media in your answer.
